![]() It is implied that for a long time she has known what was going to happen, right up to the Ajira flight in 2007. But the journal mostly contains info about Daniel's research Desmond Hume's significance and details on things like DHARMA, Oceanic 815 and the Island. After killing her son in 1977, she inherits his journal, which gives her information about the future, as you have surmised. ![]() ![]() These events cannot be unwritten due to causality. I have posted this elsewhere but because it is relevant to answering your question I shall re-post here:Įloise Hawking's entire adult life revolves around fulfilling the time loop we see in S5 which has our Losties, and her son Daniel Faraday included, travel back in time to cause certain events to take place. Like I said, it's been a bit since I was immersed in this world. Of course this has holes because the Hatch implosion caused Desmonds gifts and.blah blah, I know.Īnyway, anyone have any thoughts on this? I assume I may just have forgotten or overlooked a piece of obscure information. At least there it makes sense for Eloise to know things she shouldn't. I do have another theory that answers it, however, and I guess I'm killing two birds with one post: Flashes Before Your Eyes isn't even time travel, it's another near death experience like Happily Ever After in the final season, and Des, in fact, just slipped into a different Afterlife. I assume the answer to this is gonna be nebulous and it could just be a Mystery Box-fuelled plot hole, but I'm really curious if there could be a rational reason behind it. I guess my main theory is that Daniel somehow had all this information in his journal, but like, when would he have learned that from Desmond? But knowing the bigger picture, what the hell was up with her knowing the future? I guess I have theories, but do any of you folk have ideas? Upon my first watch it's one of those Lost Moments where it's confusing and weird, but hey, it's Lost! The answers will come. But she's not, she's just an Other who went through some zany shit in her youth and is the mother of a guy Desmond will eventually have a hot and heavy Constant/Variable relationship with. She knows the future, knows he is from the future, and is basically acting like Death personified. I recall never having many questions lingering by the end of the series about the big things, but rewatching 3x08 I was immediately seeing right through the hokey mysterious talk that Ms. I'm on my first rewatch in years, though back in the day I watched this series over and over.
